The Pre-Congress Teaching Course will take place on 2nd-3rd October 2023.
On behalf of the World Muscle Society and the local organising committee, we invite you to attend the WMS Pre-Congress Teaching Course on 2nd-3rd October 2023. This teaching course will be delivered and attended by established and young physicians, researchers, therapists, and neuropathologists from all over the world.
After two years of a virtual only teaching course, we are excited to transform this teaching course to a modern hybrid format after the success of going hybrid in 2022. You will have the opportunity to learn about the modern approach and developments in myology during the 1 .5 days of in-person course learning which will be also be streamed for online only attendees. Please note that only the sessions on Monday will be live streamed for virtual delegates. This is because Tuesday's sessions will involve live patients so will not be live streamed for virtual delegates nor available on demand through the virtual platform.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to Charleston!
On behalf of the WMS Teaching Course Faculty

Medical specialists (paediatricians, neurologists, paediatric neurologists, geneticists, neuropathologists) and medical specialists in training, and other non-industry attendees of the WMS congress.
The emphasis of this course will be on the clinical approach of patients who present with symptoms of a neuromuscular disease. The course will start with an introduction part, followed by 10 educational case presentations covering most common neuromuscular phenotypes.
There will be the opportunity to discuss the integrated diagnostic approach to patients shown on video, to look at muscle MRI imaging, neurophysiology, or muscle biopsies.
Upon completion, participants should be able to better recognise a number of important neuromuscular presentations; incorporate up-to-date diagnostic approaches to the patient suspected of a neuromuscular disease; consider the differential diagnosis; apply appropriate tests.
